micro batched candles and wax melts – scents inspired by the russian folklore

HAND-POURED MICRO BATCHED CANDLES & MELTS MADE FROM QUALITY NATURAL SOY WAX

We are a small, conceptual business created by a husband and wife in Greece. We love exploring and experimenting with ideas and concepts that root deep into all things obscure and magical. We wanted to create dark yet sophisticated scents for extraordinary people and homes. Our candles and melts are made using naturally sourced soy wax which allows smooth, longer burning and high quality, non-toxic fragrance and essential oils.

THE ORIGIN OF BURNING

At the moment, we offer 3 options varying in weight and vessel. Larger vessels create bigger melt pools thus releasing a more intense fragrance. We recommend you choose larger vessels for more spacious rooms and keep the smaller ones for bedrooms or other smaller areas. You can keep and re-use your vessel after your candle is finished.

THE RUSSIAN ORIGINS

Suspendisse rutrum nibh urna, nec sodales enim sollicitudin sed. Vivamus malesuada libero quis quam faucibus ac condimentum.

Kashey | The Deathless

Kashey the deathless (other spellings include Koschei, Kaschey etc) is a shape shifting male antagonist of the Russian folklore. A tall, pallid and emaciated figure, often pictured stealing wives and princesses. According to legend Kashey is terrified of death and he gained his immortality through the removal of his own soul. His mortality is on the tip of a needle. The needle is hidden in an egg, inside a duck, inside a hare that’s inside a chest; the chest is buried under the roots of an oak tree, which grows on the invisible island of Buyan at an undisclosed location in the middle of the ocean. Earthly amber and deep frankincense are the top notes of our Kashey candle, with a hint of rich vanilla and tobacco base to wrap up this mystifying creature.

Vesna | Siberian Spring

Vesna is a female goddess of sun, spring and fertility found across a lot of Slavic folk tales, maybe with a slight variation in the name. Literally meaning “spring” in Russian, Vesna is pictured as a divine-looking female, with flower wreaths around her head and waist and often barefoot or naked. Vesna represents the coming of life after winter hibernation and the return of light after a period of darkness. She was believed to carry the enchanting spring aromas with her wherever she went and that all spring’s scents are signs of her passing through. Our Vesna candle is a rich, intense fragrance that evokes the scent of a female perfume. Fresh white flowers and a hint of vanilla come to rest on a base of Siberian cedar wood essential oil.

Domovoy | The House Spirit

The word Domovoy is derived from the word ‘dom’, meaning ‘house’, and literally means ‘master of the house’. A household benevolent sprite that dwells in the dark corners of the house, protecting and never leaving the boundaries of the residence. Domovoy is often pictured as a short, hairy humanoid creature, with large eyes, sometimes having tiny horns and horse ears! It is said that cats and babies can see Domovoy but more often a family can only sense Domovoy through the sounds of light footsteps and unexplained thuds. In Russia at least, no household would consider moving to a new location without formally inviting the Domovoy to join it. Our Domovoy candle is a spicy, homey scent of clove, ginger and cinnamon. that will bring back distant memories.

Rusalka | Mermaid

Rusalka is a water nymph in the Russian folklore. Rusalka is usually associated with an unquiet, dangerous female being who is no longer alive and has met her death through water. More often than not she is malicious to mankind, looking out to seduce young men either with her deceivingly attractive appearance or with her soft voice. Although mainly lurking in murky swamp waters, Rusalki are supposed to emerge from the water during early summer and climb onto weeping willow and birch trees until night, when they dance in rings in the moonlight. Our Rusalka candle is an intense botanical scent of wet moss and wood and freshly-cut wildflowers on a subtle base of musk.
